ART & CULTURE DAY
Melbourne is renowned for its art and culture. Students will see Melbourne's world class international art collection and its Indigenous collection at the Ian Potter Centre. In the afternoon a river cruise along the Yarra will be followed by dinner with Australian high school students.
NATIONAL GALLERY OF VICTORIA
Our fourth day will be dedicated to exploring the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), one of Australia's most prestigious art museums. The NGV is divided into two campuses: the International Gallery in the city center and the Ian Potter Centre: The Australian Gallery of Modern Art in St. Kilda Road.
We'll begin our day at the International Gallery, where you'll discover a vast collection of European, Asian, and Indigenous art. Admire masterpieces by renowned artists such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Monet, and Picasso, as well as stunning works from ancient civilizations. Our knowledgeable guides will provide fascinating insights into the history and significance of each artwork.
After lunch, we'll head to the Ian Potter Centre, which houses a collection of Australian art from the colonial era to the present day. Explore the diverse range of styles and mediums on display, from traditional Aboriginal art to contemporary installations. Learn about the stories behind the artworks and the artists who created them.
To conclude our day, we'll enjoy a relaxing Yarra River cruise. As we glide along the river, we'll admire the city's skyline, iconic landmarks, and picturesque parks. The cruise offers a unique perspective on Melbourne and is a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring the city's cultural treasures.
In the evening, we'll have the opportunity to interact with local high school students at a special dinner. This will be a fantastic chance to exchange cultural experiences, ask questions, and make new friends. The dinner will take place at a popular restaurant in the city center, where you'll enjoy delicious Australian cuisine and engage in lively conversation with your young hosts.
